Third time’s a charm?
An open request to Ryan Adams: Let’s both of us please show up this time, eh? Looking forward to it immensely. Thanks for trying again.

"I love the relationship that anyone has with music: because there's something in us that is beyond the reach of words, something that eludes and defies our best attempts to spit it out. It's the best part of us, probably, the richest and strangest part..."
—Nick Hornby, Songbook
"Music has always been a matter of energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it Inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel."
—Hunter S. Thompson
Mp3s are for sampling purposes, kinda like when they give you the cheese cube at Costco, knowing that you'll often go home with having bought the whole 7 lb. spiced Brie log. They are left up for a limited time. If you LIKE the music, go and support these artists, buy their schwag, go to their concerts, purchase their CDs/records and tell all your friends. Rock on.
I have had tickets to about four or five RA shows and yet only attended one – last fall here in Boston. It seems something ALWAYS comes up and makes me miss the show. The most notable of these near-misses was last summer at the Beacon Theater in NYC – I have four excellant seats and I hope someone moved up and enjoyed them!

dear ryan boston,
that actually makes me hurt to think about missing that many shows.
i had tix last august and it was cancelled, what, four days before the show? found out via an email from ticketbastard, i was sooo disappointed. i flew out to CA on my work trip anyway, but sorely missed the adams love.
then i had tix for, uh, october i think, with phil lesh in san fran, and he pulled out again. so here’s to sincerely hoping that nothing goes awry this time, on his end or mine!

In one of his visits to Barcelona, Mr. Adams announced he would play for three hours. One hour and a quarter into the show, when he was already quite drunk (he had stopped the music to tell the waitress at the bar how to make his favourite cocktail), he jumped into the public and went back up to the stage without one of his shoes. The whole band left for the dressing room, and after a while his brother came in and said: “No zapato, no musica”. And, since there was no shoe, there was no more music. A few months later I got to interview him for a music magazine here. And love may be Hell, but it freezes when compared to him, believe me…

This will be the third try for me as well. I’ve seen him twice, but the last two, he cancelle (#1, broken wrist…#2, exhaustion). At least I got to meet Jesse Malin outside the Moore in Seattle last year when we were walking around downtown hanging out anyway.

Ryan Adams sucks, plain and simple. Listen to Wilco if you want good music in his genre.
