Mason Jennings is coming to Boulder’s Fox Theatre this Friday with Ferraby Lionheart (that’s a fairytale character, right?) and Patrick Park. Mason is growing into a favorite of mine, with a sound that is alternately described as folk-rock-pop, protest-funk-rock . . . etc etc etc. I just call it some of the most fun you can have with an acoustic guitar, a bass, and some fat drum beats.

I’ve lived in Minneapolis for about a year now and it’s kind of strange that it took the advice of someone far away to finally get me to listen to Mason Jennings. Whether it be my unwillingness to explore the things recommended to me by friends – or the fact that I will probably forever associate his name with Waylon Jennings…I don’t know – just never gave him a shot. I sent something to about him a long time ago. I don’t know if you ever heard it, but he’s fantastic.
The mason acoustic show at first Ave last year was awesome.

saw him for the 3rd time in nyc recently (from minneapolis originally) and he never fails to put on a great show…
