Pearl Jam announce East Coast summer tour dates

Nerdy superfans have been awaiting a big announcement of some sort from Pearl Jam today, crashing the message boards in the process somehow. Once the site got up and running again, there were some new tour dates announced for this summer!

The face-meltingly rad Kings of Leon will be opening the first four dates, and Ted Leo & The Pharmacists the others. I would travel to see Kings of Leon with PJ; South Carolina anyone? I’ve always wanted to go.

We’re also hoping that this might be the first leg only of a larger nationwide tour.

PEARL JAM TOUR 2008
June 11 – West Palm, FL Cruzan Amphitheatre
June 12 – Tampa, FL St Pete Times Forum
June 13-15 – Manchester, TN Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival
June 16 – Columbia, SC Colonial Center
June 17 – Virginia Beach, VA Verizon Amphitheater
June 19 – Camden, NJ Susquehanna Bank Center
June 22 – Washington, DC Verizon Center
June 24 – New York, NY Madison Square Garden
June 25 – New York, NY Madison Square Garden
June 27 – Hartford, CT Dodge Amphitheater
June 30 – Mansfield, MA Tweeter Center

Let’s See Action (live) – Eddie Vedder & Pete Townshend

  • when they play betterman it’ll still suck.

it’s fun when dinosaurs bring awesome bands to open for them and then the awesome band rocks so hard that the dinosaurs can feel in the tar pits.

  • I’m intrigued by this little missive in the email announcement: “for this tour, we are implementing a slight change – rows 1-2 and rows 9-10 will now be RANDOM distribution. This means regardless of your member number you will have a chance of occupying seats within those random rows”

  • Firedande, such harsh words. I assume you’ve never seen PJ play. I’ve seen them 12 times, and they rock harder than anyone out there past or present.

  • Very exciting to see the tour dates. Maybe I can get down to NYC? You might be interested in my post toady about Pearl Jam’s “Nothing As It Seems.”

  • Hey Firedande,

The strokes sucks! If that offends you, then you are the problem with America…Because someone had a difference of opinion you felt personally attacked, instead of concentrating on the real problem: why do you listen to shitty music?

  • Looking forward to this. I’ll be going the one in VA Beach. This show is exactly one week before my birthday, so… HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME! :D

  • the strokes sucks?

perhaps the problem with America is the low quality education your parents provided you with.

  • Firedande….

Maybe you should just not go to a PJ concert? Maybe you should just stop listening to PJ altogether? It’s obvious you don’t care for them all that much.

Or, maybe you should just lighten up a bit, this kind of negativity will put some nasty wrinkles on your face if your not careful.

Oh, and i’m from Iceland so please don’t tell me that my parents failed me if my spelling isn’t correct, English isn’t my first language.

  • That Eddie and Pete Townshend is amazing. Can we get the whole show, Heather? PLEASE!!!

  • Come to Columbia Heather! Regards from a frequent SC Fuel reader…

  • They need to play places they haven’t played before. A country with a population 1 billion might be a good place to start.

  • firedande’s limited exposure to music has caused him to have diarrhea mouth. Its ok, we’ll clean up after him! :)

  • Pearl Jam fans are cute. like the Special Olympics.

    firedande — March 25, 2008 @ 8:58 am

  • Special Olympics are firedande’s specialty

    Sean — March 28, 2008 @ 5:35 am

  • Seriously. It’s the only place to see people as cute as Pearl Jam fans.

    firedande — March 28, 2008 @ 5:02 pm

  • My old man had Robert Plant and I have Ed Ved! Life is good!!! Anybody want to show a me and a bro around MA on my bday (june 28)? Will be decending from 30,000feet from UT.

"I love the relationship that anyone has with music: because there's something in us that is beyond the reach of words, something that eludes and defies our best attempts to spit it out. It's the best part of us, probably, the richest and strangest part..."
—Nick Hornby, Songbook
"Music has always been a matter of energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it Inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel."
—Hunter S. Thompson

Mp3s are for sampling purposes, kinda like when they give you the cheese cube at Costco, knowing that you'll often go home with having bought the whole 7 lb. spiced Brie log. They are left up for a limited time. If you LIKE the music, go and support these artists, buy their schwag, go to their concerts, purchase their CDs/records and tell all your friends. Rock on.
