Port O’Brien is from Oakland, CA, and they are riotously full of joy and good tunes. They brought a wooden box full of pots and pan lids to their show on Saturday and invited the audience to come up on stage in a collaborative percussion-and-yelling celebration. It was just fantastic.

Indeed, I’ve not been a big Port O’Brien fan, but my friend is, so I went with her … I still can’t see myself with PO on my iPod, but man oh man, if that wasn’t the most energetic show I’ve seen I don’t know what is … that was a fabulous show.
… BTW, the Vampire Weekend show went great, and I was digging the Morning Benders …
Highlight of the night, during a break between SSPU and devotchka, local Rob Drabkin brinks up a special guest for his acoustic set, his dad on the sax …

BTW, when we got to RRx early Sat, they were handing out free tix to a show this Tuesday (23rd) at the Ogden, Spiritualized and Grand Ole Party … can’t say I’m loving Spiritualized, but Grand Ole Party is a great listen, I will be there for sure, free gig? count me in.
