It is Sunday, after all
The Sufjan-influenced Welcome Wagon create songs that sound more like a jubilant Easter sunrise service than Brooklyn in January. This song is burnished brass, banjo and handclaps, and everyone singing along at the end. “Skip about like calves, coming from their stalls at last…”
But For You Who Fear My Name – The Welcome Wagon

Wow…hadn’t listened to this song in ages till it showed up on my shuffle today. I too love how jubilant it is!

Skip about like calves coming from their stalls at last!
The joy of forgiveness and reconciliation… perfectly pictured in a dancing baby cow!

This song has a groove about it…
I really like the group singing/gang vocals vibe. Layers and layers of simple stuff make it bigger and I definitely dig it!

The Wang busted this album out this week without knowing you were doing the same. This is probably Bart’s favourite tune on the album. Though, The Welcome Wagon cover of the Velvet Underground’s ‘Jesus’ was played multiple times and grew on him immensely.

I’m a big fan of this song. I put it on a mix a while back. I’m thinking of making a new “Stomp-Clap” mix–this would, of course, be a part of it.

Please please please make a stomp clap mix (and also put that Joshua James song on it, if you take a fancy to it!) — I would LOVE to hear this mix. I will be thinking of other options.
