It takes an ocean not to break
The excitement thrumming hot in my veins as The National kicked off my first listen of the opening track on their forthcoming album High Violet was nearly overwhelming:
Terrible Love (live on Fallon) – The National
I’m also gobsmacked by the album art, which sort of reminds me of this image. High Violet is out May 11 on 4AD.
holy crap THANK YOU FOR REMINDING ME ABOUT THIS TODAY. I nearly forgot.

Is it just me or can one listen to the national continuously?
May 11 is to far away, but I’ve lined up tickets to three shows to compensate.

i kinda like ocean better, in its ambiguity. it takes an ocean of something — we just don’t know what…
browneheather — March 11, 2010 @ 3:18 pm
Agreed. If it’s not ‘ocean’ it should be
Once again THANKS Heather. As a follower from london you’ve introduced me YET AGAIN to a group that has pretty much zero coverage (that i’ve seen) in the UK.

AMAZING performance, I have been listening to this constantly since it aired!… and kudos to Jimmy Fallon for having the best musical guests in late night!

NICE….
Can’t wait for new stuff from The National! I spent, like, two months listening to the unofficial “Runaway” song! I’m digging the tempo shifts in this new song. Many years ago, Ned’s Atomic Dustbin taught me the wonder of such tempo shifts within a song. (See “Happy.”)
Thanks for sharing; I missed them on Fallon.
